Okay, I'll sort of play
Dec. 25th, 2024 10:38 pmFive Things That are Different From Last Year at This Time:
1. No hospital time so far this year.
2. My damaged hard drive is in the shop and with luck they'll be able to rescue a lot of data for me soon.
3. I've got my CD's ripped again.
4. I'm getting much closer to getting my personal identiffication changed.
5. This may take a little bit, you might want to sit down and get a drink. Way back in the mid-90's I had this band called Evidence. I was working with a lead singer who was decent as a singer, at least for a Karaoke princess with no formal training. We went into a local recording studio and recorded eight songs in ten hours. Yes, I know that 's crazy fast. We walked out with a master of the session on a DAT tape and the four ADAT tapes, which are Super VHS tapes but formated into eight recorded tracks.
The first bummer was that she turned out to be a consummate liar and someone with ASPD issues, maybe a full blown sociopath. The other problem was that she tended to not end her words crisp, so it sounded like she was droning on.
With the move to here I discovered that I couldn't' find the ADAT tapes (there are four of them). Okay, well I still had the master. Except that I didn't, it's missing. I wanted the ADAT tapes so I could rerecord my vocals, because I'm a far stronger singer these days, and get a friend to rerecord her vocals, because I don't want my former singer on my stuff. But with the tapes missing I couldnt' do that.
A friend of mine from college, along with his wife, come by every December 25th to brin me tacos, because they know about the Christmas brunches my dad used to do. (Who doesn't like a good celebration of the birth of Heru, or if you prefer the Greek translation, Horus?) My buddy does a lot of format conversion, so he's going to do some videotapes for me. To that end we went through my VHS tapes... and there they were. I have the gear to do the conversions too, so it' a matter of setting things up, practice, and rerecord the tracks. It'll need a bit of cleanup too, but I reclaimed something today, and yeah, I'm buzzing about it.
