Here's a slightly different approach for a retrospective -- the year in recipes.

I tried a few new recipes this year, either made by me or by others who did the cooking and preparation.

Game Hens Fit for a Dutchess along with Greek Roasted Potatoes: These were my contribution to a manifestation workshop the coven did. The hens were from a LJ friend, and were yummy. The Greek Roasted Potatoes are from a recipe on Recipeczar, but I substitute Cavenders' Greek Seasoning for the salt and pepper. These two work very well together, and it was a great meal held with my stemware and good plates and a coven member's silver service while all of us were dressed to the nines.

Icelandic Chicken: This recipe was made by a coven member for Lammas. Quite tasty, though I would have preferred a bit more spicing.

Crock Pot Pizza: I got this recipe from a BBS way back when, and it's a great one. (Had it just last week)

Friendship Bread: A friend who was staying with me made this and experimented around with it. The absolute standout was the one with the chopped bits of apple in it.

Chili: I really like my chili recipe. No, it doesn't have beans in it -- I'm a purist on that, and besides, I can't eat them anyway. It comes out flavorful but not too hot -- you can spice it up if you prefer with a dash of ceyenne.

Hoppin' John: This is my take on a southern favorite -- mine has fiesta corn in with the rice and black eyed peas to complete the protein. It's a simple recipe and also filling, plus it covers the New Year's requirement of eating black eyed peas. (Which I wasn't able to do this year)

Kim Chee Soup: Though I detest Kim Chee while uncooked, it's not bad after you boil it in broth for a while. My former roommate from Korea made this for us a couple of times.

Those are the culinary points I can rmember from the year without delving into restaurants. Hopefully this next year will be as adventuresome in the food department.
