Well, I got a $7/hr retail job to keep the wolves at bay. Of course I'm not going to stop looking. I want that Tech Writer job that has to be out there for me.

At a networking meeting on Monday I made a solid contact with a Tech Writer who has 25 years in the field. He's helping me get a good feel for the industry. I'm learning a lot very quickly.

I'm trying to reconnect with a friend who is mad at me for some stuff that I do not remember ever doing or saying. We'll see how that goes.

I'm feeling calm today. Did the entire basic set of Tai Chi last night -- 8 reps, both sides, a full 30 minute cycle. I'm surprised I'm not sore. Of course, Tai Chi is pretty low impact.

I'm getting some stuff worked out at home as well.

(No, not that -- stop that, you pervert....)

For about 2 years, I've been harassing the guys in the drum department about one of their display pieces.

It's a half circle aluminum tube with lots of holes on it for aluminum rods -- great for mounting cowbells and stuff on. I've tried to buy that thing almost every time I go in there.

I pop in yesterday, and it's no where to be seen. The sales rep comes up to me, and asks to help me as I'm busting out some doumbek technique on a frame drum. I ask a couple of questions about getting a big 22" Ocean drum ordered and how much leeway I can get on the frame drum I'm holding, and then I comment on the display piece.

"Oh, we got a new one. we're not going to use that one anymore."

My heart leapt. "Really? Consider selling that one to me?"

"Let me check."

Turns out he's the assistant manager, and he GIVES the thing to me.

My drum rig is going to look so cool at CMA Samhain.
