Speeding Up
Mar. 13th, 2005 06:56 pmThe days of slow connection are gone. I got my broadband connection today. It's not as fast as the one I had at Allied Riser (where we were guaranteed six times the speed of a t-1) but it will be a vast improvalence over dial-up. Since the roomie is moving out, and I get all my calls on my cell, I saw no reason to pay fifty bucks for a land line when it was only going to provide me dial-up service when I could get a cable modem for thirty bucks a month. It just seems to make fiscal sense. And I can offer fast internet connections to potential roommates with them handling their own phone service, which will keep me out of their long distance issues, so it makes sense to do it this way.
Things do seem faster now, so it seems to be working just fine, though it was major hell for them to get it connected in the first place -- they had to run a line solely for the cable modem connection.
