Well, the day from Hell is over.
Yesterday, I got up, headed off to my Jazz Band rehearsal, and the intensity started. After the rehearsal, I grabbed some lunch, then at two o'Five I had my mid semester Jury for my voice lesson. I knew they were going to pick my German song, Herr Ich Das Leitken Klingen, my Accompianist, who had played eight juries already that morning, also thought they would pick it, and even my teacher told me that he thought that would be the one. So they picked the Benjamin Britton Arrangement of the old American Folk tune, Foggy Foggy Dew. (I swear that song is about an elf maid) I've known it for about a week. However, I managed to do rather well at it. From there, I hit the Recital Lab (I have to do sixteen of those) and caught a very short one -- no university has a lot of bassoons, and yesterday was the Bassoon studio's day to play. (My studio sang on Tuesday.) From there, I had an hour Jazz Combo rehearsal, only our third, in preparation for the evening's gig. (It was also our first full rehearsal with the drummer) Then, a two hour gig at a coffee shop.
Four and a half hours of playing drums with my hands. Plus a major grade in voice. I spent the entire day dressed up, and though it was cool outside, the coffee shop got quite warm during our sets.
My arms, sholders, and of course my hands are sore, but at least the day from hell is done.
