J.K Rowling Outs Character (No Spoilers)
Oct. 20th, 2007 02:59 pmAt a reading from her last book in the Harry Potter series, Author J.K Rowling also answered questions from fans. When asked if Dumbledore ever found love, she revealed that the character was gay, and cited plot points from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows that supported this revelation. (Omitted to preserve spoilage)
This should make all the people whining about no gay characters in the Harry potter Books STFU. I've always contended that the school environment was no place for coming out, and that if there were gay characters, (I suspected Neville, Professor Hooch, and possibly Trelawny) that it was too early in the students' lives for them to be comfortable coming out, and inappropriate for the faculty to reveal this to the students. It wasn't an appropriate environment for it.
This will probably inspire all kinds of slash. Fine with me as long as I don't have to read it. I find most slash annoying, and some of it, (like the Hermione/Snape slash) disgusting.
