Well, so far it's been productive, but not like I'd hoped. I just finished Monique's Revenge, a story I intended to have done by next September. Marty's Challenge has also been completed, and that was slated for completion sometime in the summer. And I'm about 14k words short on the story I should be writing for this month instead.
I've just about decided to go non-linear in this. I have a lot of sections I want to get done in it, and I have a coherent outline, so I'm seriously thinking of splitting the outline out into a spreadsheet and just writing what sections I feel most inspired to write and using that to accomplish the sissiphyean task of getting this rock over the hill. After all, those sections are the things I want to get down, and for the book to work it'll need some coherent threads throughout it. If I write the conclusion of those threads right now then I'll be better able to build to them later. Plus I'll get over this writing hump and get, hopefully, caught up.

On other news, I think I'm about ready to hit the studio and get both Afterburner and the unnamed funk tune out of my head and down into the sequencer. Afterburner will take a lot of work, since it's a full big band chart, but I think it'll be well worth it, as it's what's termed a "Killer Diller" in jazz parlance, a fast tune with lots of very powerful horn lines and really quick rhythm. Once these are out of my headspace, I'll have room for more tunes to come in and stay for a while.
