Finished another tune today.
The year was 1987. My friend and guitarist DC was dating a woman, DI, who was a huge fan of bands like Air Supply, REO Speedwagon, and other similar groups known for poppy love songs. DC didn't really show much respect for her musical tastes, but liked what I wrote, so I sat down and wrote this song for DI for her to copy into her own handwriting and show to him to see if we could pull one over on him.

This tune is pure 1980's hard pop. It's got distorted guitars, synth obbligatos, string pads, and just the right sound of the drums. The topic of the song is from the viewpoint of a guy who has lost a girlfriend and is trying to apologize and let her know that he's very sorry and still very much in love with her. (Antichick, this is right up your alley)
It also shows my continuing fascination with things in songs that happen only once, and also the recent fascination with brief silences in the tune. And of course, in true 80's fashion, it has a place for a guitar solo.

For this one I need a male vocalist of the right vocal range and a guitarist. This is slated for the third Evidence album, Crimes of Passion. (Two more to go on that one to have all the tracks done, and I may get back to working on it tonight if I feel motivated enough) For those of you who understand form, the form is ABABCBB.

I'm down to ten tunes now -- four for Evidence, five for Gypsy Heir, and one other tune for some jazz stuff. (That one will take a while to complete) My new goal is to have all of this finished before I get back into school on the 20th. Should be achievable if I stay on task and manage to keep the depression at bay. Actually, some of the Gypsy Heir stuff is going to be fun to work on, but I've been knocking out the Evidence stuff first because it was first on the list and because there was more of it. That's no longer the case, but I'm still trying to finish the Evidence stuff first, as I want to get it all finished so another category goes the way of the dodo.
If anyone is interested in hearing the lyrics to Romance, let me know.
