I'm trying to get a lot of things done around here, as I'd like to finally get a lot of the tasks dealt with so I can focus on the creative things I want to do. To that end I'm going to ask for help from friends here.
These tasks fall into two categories -- ones that have to be done here, and ones someone can do remotely. (So, yes, those of you located outside the local area can help me as well) Any help would be greatly appreciated, as many of these things are tasks that have ridden my back for years, and some date back a decade or two. (And a couple might go back as far as three or more decades)
In Situ:
1) I need to do a bit of running around in Dallas. I need to go to Micro Center on Central at Spring Valley, deliver some books to a UBS for sale, drop into Home Depot to pick up a couple of things, stuff like that. I could also use a trip to WL Sales down on I-20 in Duncanville at some point to price supplies for the studio. Anyone who can help me with this will get gas money and probably a meal as well. Since traffic varies so much I can't say how long this will take. All of this doesn't have to be done at once, though the Micro Center trip will go a long way toward easing my (limited) sanity.

2) I need assistance in getting some things filed -- CD's, DVD's, and Laserdiscs, mostly, though there are also some old record albums that also need proper filing. This will take maybe fifteen minutes, total, including the notations I need to make so I can reference things down the line. I also need assistance in going through the software I have so I can get it filed in the proper drawer and get a list of what's in there. Some culling will also probably happen, and this process will take about an hour or so, possibly a bit more.
3) Someone to help me with getting paperwork scanned and entered into the computer. Some of this will be simple scanning and some will be reading things to me as I type. Not all of this needs to be done by one person. Any contribution of an hour or two would be greatly appreciated. This project is going to take a lot of time, but it can be done piecemeal with no trouble. And I could probably scan some things too if folks want to help at home or remotely. The first task in all of this is to sort a lot of the paper I have here so it can run more smoothly, and that's going to take a couple of hours.

4) I need some wardrobe work: I need some scissor weilding person to come by and help me process the t-shirts that I'm preparing to turn into a comforter for my bed. And if anyone knows a quilter with reasonable prices, I could use that information as well. (I'll need the comforter made and a couple of pillow shams to go with it, and possibly some sort of matching dust ruffle) This should take no more than an hour or two, as most of the cutting is done.
5) I have three thornless blackberry bushes that need planting. Probably won't take long, but I'm not a gardener, so I can't project how long this will take.

6) Assistance with sorting out the garage. I need to get the treadmill out of it and into the game room, and then I need help in figuring out just what is left in there, especially boxes. Then I need help getting things put back in there from inside the house. This should take several hours, and I'll feed anyone who helps with this process. It would be best with several folks at once.

7) Speaking of the garage, the door opener is out of alignment. This is an easy process that involves standing on a step ladder and adjusting a screw way back, then having me close the door and then adjusting the door to a good resting place. It should take about ten minutes if the garage is got stuff moved out of the way, closer to thirty if it doesn't happen at the same time as the garage organization does. (#6 above) This one also probably requires that the person doing this has a cell phone, as that way they can tell me to open the door. (I don't think it has an opening control on the inside.
8) I need someone to assist me in getting stereo connections in place and in hooking up a computer to the stereo. The unit in question is a Yamaha RX-V461, so anyone willing to help with this will probably want to download the manual and read it before coming over. (It's a complex device that seems to baffle even experienced stereo folks) I'm not sure how long this will take, but it shouldn't be more than a couple of hours.

9) I need someone to troubleshoot what seems to be a power issue on two 3M projection units. This will take pretty comprehensive electronics skills to work out completely, and I have no idea how long this will take. I'm not in a rush to use them, so if they have to sit in someone's shop for a month or two to get fixed I'm down with that.

10) I need some assistance sorting books on the bookshelves in the game room and in the Zen room. I figure this will take about an hour to an hour and a half each.

11) I need some assistance culling most of my blank HD 3.5 floppy disks so I can freecycle or donate them. This should take no more than an hour.

Remote:
1) I lost copies of The Can Opener Cookbook and Betty Crocker's paperback cookbook, . I also lost all my Foods of the World hardbacks except for the Wines and Spirits book, and could use any of those you happen to find while cruising through used book stores. I also need recipe lists from my cookbooks, and I can provide a list of those, as well as possibly scans from the table of contents. If you want a list of the spiral bound ones I lost, let me know.

2) I have a list of books I own in hardcopy that I need to get digital copies of. I suspect much of this wil come from the web, while the rest will require scanning and will require either someone owning the work or it being done here. So for the first part I probably need some resourceful internet user to locate the books I'm trying to find and send them to me. I have a very good way to do this that will allow a transfer, peer-to-peer, at about a gigabyte a pop. I have comprehensive lists of what I need. A lot of the books are gaming books, fiction, or books about music or recording.

3) There are some graphic files on my computer that lost their name associations, and I need someone to look at them and tell me what's what. This is not for the squeamish, as some of it came from my Erotica folder. (Since I can't see, I'll probably purge those, but I need to know I'm not purging some other graphic, so they need to be viewed and properly named) I have the original files (0kb) that lost their connection to the file, (long story dealing with spanned IDE drives on a server) so I have the original name of the graphic I can send along too.

4) I could use some help finding a more blind accessible Livejournal client - Symmagic isn't cutting it, as I can't set moods, songs, or any of that other stuff with it, and so I need another client or a way to send messages to my journal through Outlook 2007. LJ.Net also wasn't a good option, so don't even bother with it. I used to have a perfectly good one, but somehow when the 95 system crashed we lost it, and now I can't find one that does the job.

5) if someone could create for me a document with the HTML tags LJ uses, that would be greatly appreciated. Don't just send me a link, as I'll lose the link and forget it, I need an actual document I can reference on my hard drive.

6) Email addresses from those of you who are on my friends list if you have changed email addresses or haven't sent it to me. The proper place to send them is below -- please don't reply here with your email address.

7) I need someone to assist me with a couple of MS Office tasks. I need someone to help me proofread my business plan, and then to insert a couple of tables into the document. This is something that will require some decent MS Office skills and an eye for detail.

You can contact me at nyyki at gypsyheir dot com for location for any of this.
