I just finished this work. The audio book took 43 hours.

First, I enjoyed it. Fielding managed to keep from telegraphing much of anything, which I always like. It also lacked the Dickensian trait of having everything all interrelated. It's nice to not have every person in a book connected through unknown ties to everyone else in some way, either simple or byzantine and baroque. These two complaints were my two biggest ones with Jane Eyre.
The book also had spots where I wondered how Fielding was going to resolve some of the situations, and the characters were well drawn and differentiated. I suggest to anyone who is going to read it to find a copy with annotations, as there's a lot of latin in it, especially from one character, and a lot of references to particular points in time and contemporary books and events.
It was a fun read, and a work of classic literature I'd reccommend.
It also reminded me of how little in the eighteenth century women and children, especially adult children in upper society, were allowed by the heads of house to make decisions for themselves. It was an interesting window into that time period.
