Let's Not do *THAT* Again...

I just had a power outage that lasted for about fifteen and a half hours. I'm sure all the clocks in the place are hoseamafied, including the VCR's. It got me thinking how important power is to my life these days. My cassette player from the NLS that plays their weird format audiobooks is supposed to work on battery power for about six hours, but the battery in this unit was phuqed from arrival, and it's so hard to get a player that plays tapes well that I didn't bother with sending it back to get another one. So, from about five thirty yesterday, I was just sitting here, waiting for the power to come on again, with nothing to do.

All my phone numbers are in Palm Desktop on the computer, with the exception of a scant few I have memorized, and I didn't want to usethe phone much anyway, as I had no way to recharge it.

It sure gets quiet when the power is off. The soft white noise ofthe air conditioner masks a lot of sounds outside the house. This place isn't as good about trapping sound as my house was, but it's pretty good.

At least it's back on now. I had an outage on Friday as well, but that only lasted under an hour. This one felt like more of an ordeal
