When firefighters fight fires in the wild, especially forest fires, one common tactic is to place charges in the path of the fire. Big explosions tend to blow out the fire.

I've been rather depressed for most of this month -- starting right about the time I got back from CMA Samhain. I realized today that I'm not depressed anymore.

A bit more processing made me realize that the sadness of losing Josi eclipsed the depression, and when I coped with her loss, the depression went away. The problems the led me to the depression are still there, and nothing has improved much, except my outlook on life in general. I'm not depressed anymore. It's like the explosion of Josi's death extinguished the fire of my depression.
