The story seems to gloss over one little important detail.
One of the major factors in wrenching up Tempest Smith to the point that she left the planet before her regularly scheduled flight was that she was mercilessly harassed by fellow students about her religion.
Proof that "Once a Predacious Warrior path, Still a Predacious Warrior Path." At least, on some level. Now a young woman, right on the verge of coming into her own power, is now extinguished.
This sucks.
