The Start of The Season

nyykiWe had our Kindred gathering last night.
It was a lot more people than normal, as we had guests for the celebration. The things in the Chinese Gift Exchange thing (do the Chinese really do this, or is it some kind of misnomer?) were all pretty good gifts all told. There was a decent amount of stealing going on, and for sixteen people, we had three or four items go static.
I finally got a horn. I don't buy majikal tools for myself, with the exceptions of statues, so I've been doing without a horn for a long time. The one I got was custom done for me, and it has a silver plated plaque on the side tht has a fox among the grapes and grape leaves. Seriously cool stuff. I also got a dowsing rod in case I need to find water, and a pendant of Yggdrasil. In the Chinese gift thingie I wound up with some Scottish cought medicine, which is scotch, honey, and herbs. And some Kindred family also gave me a green bean cassarole, since my family hasn't done it in a while.
My gifts were well recieved as well. The Pole ladder pendant I gave Doomraven really was a hit. (They're pretty much nonexistant as jewelry items, and they're the symbol of Heimdall, who Doomraven loves and follows) Pretty much everything was a hit.
The food also rocked. Since Flaming Sword put in her list that she was wanting to have a Yule celebration with pagans, I invited her to come along. She made a really good chutney, and we also had lots of other goodies like a pork roast, meatballs, potatoes with all kinds of things in them, and then the desserts. Someone made brownies with peppermint schnapps in them, and they were wonderful. Everything was tasty, but then again, this is a Kindred of food sluts, so the spread is usually a feature of the gathering.
The rite was also a good one, Freyjavin's ritual to Freyr. The horn was voluminous, and the mead wonderful.
