Enough is Enough

In listening to a book on the Tao te Ching, do we really need a reminder in every one of the 81 verses of the Tao that it was written 2500 years ago:? This kind of appeal to authority is one of the reasons why many "new age" writers are considered to be some of the weakest writers in writerdom. I've heard people talk about how great Dr. Wayne W. Dyer is, but if this book is representative of his writing I don't know how much more of his stuff I'm going to be able to tolerate.
