Updatement
Feb. 8th, 2010 06:12 pmSo, all my stuff is now at the new place. I have a lot to dig through, but at least it's a substantial task for me to work on, so I will be anything but bored. If any of my local peeps would like to come by and check out the new place and help me identify boxes, let me know and I'd be happy to have the company and help. (It's slow going doing this alone)
The old place has been inspected and I'm getting my deposit back, which will rock, as it's a lot of money.
School is moving along, and it's not going to be a very hard semester. I'm in two classes, and I don't see much trouble with them. The biggest headache will be getting to and from on the bus.
I think I'm finally starting to get done with the funk that has been impinging on my soul, and I think part of this is a change of venue and part is just having some shocks to the system that shook me out of my old patterns. Betrayal does that sometimes, and it gave me more perspective on things, which allowed me to get some distance from things and catch my breath finally on some core topics. I'm in a better place, both physically and emotionally, than I have been in for a long time, and hopefully this will be the year where I start to finally get some balance in things.
I made it to an SCA music group meeting last Thursday, and it was fun. They also said they really liked having me around, as having someone playing percussion helped the less experienced players in keeping time a lot. This will help me a lot, as I need musical outlets and I haven't had one for some time. I'm planning on increasing my collection of musical toys for Medieval/REnaissance stuff pretty soon, so I'll have a lot more to work with soon for that ensemble/group. I hope to get more people playing percussion too with them so they develop some rhythmic skills.
The house is still in progress. The washroom should be finished as soon as we have a few days in a row with no rain so the plumber can get under the house and run the pipes. The Den should be painted and de-cat stinked before long, and then it's just a matter of replacing that door and laying carpet, then getting the piano and setting the room up. (then the AD&D game will commence - the other social outlet I'm needing) The kitchen will get done while I'm at CMA so that I won't be needing it, and the master half-bath should be done as soon as the tile guy can get free to put tile in it. My bed should be arriving on Thursday. That'll leave just the studio, and that's going to have to wait until I get the house refinanced to get the 15k it'll take to do that right.
So life is looking very positive. It's good to be me right now.
