I'm 8.2 pounds away from my first incremental weight goal. This is a goal I set for 2013, so if my weight continues to drop at the current rate I'll hit that goal before Pivot Day, leaving the second half of the year for further weight release.
At this point I've been doing this without the accountability program, but I'd like to get that working. The problem is that accountability programs for health and weight reduction need other folks for the program. There's a mailing list set up on Yahoogroups for it, but other than The Anti-chick and me there's no one else on it as of yet. If anyone here knows someone who wants to get healthier and use a pagan/metaphysical approach to it, let me know and I'll pass on the group subscribe address.
Part of this is going to get harder now that summer is nigh -- I just did my walk around the block with the guide beast, and my talking thermometer told me it's 90° outside. I could definitely feel it, and I'm going to have to start walking him a lot earlier.

What have you found most helpful in gauging your intake?

Specific portion control. I'm doing this with metrics, so I know exactly how much I'm taking in at each meal, or as close as possible. I'm working from a defined set of menu items. I don't stress when I go out to eat, because I do so infrequently -- possibly twice a month except for my weekly Tuesday night run to a drive-thru, and I know the calorie amounts for my standard drive-thru item. I have enough willpower not to cheat, only adding something to the day's regimen when blood sugar problems require it. Since this is the opening element to my health goals, I'm dedicated to reaching targets.
