Well, That was a Day
Oct. 1st, 2024 10:50 pmAfter two hours plus at the bank, I'm partway done with that side of it all. My name change is done and on my accounts, but they can't do anything about credit card information, it has to go through their customer service number. They're sending me the forms to do all of this, and after that I can get those done. Next, mortgage, central appraisal district, Health and Human Services, both my diplomas, and the three credit reporting agencies. There's a slight challenge to surmount, my scanner is acting churlish again, so I can't scan my passport
I also managed to finish the quest I've been on -- I've got a red box full of jacks, knobs, and other electronics hardware, and it's vexed me sore, but I found it today and wired up the switch box I need, and it works, so that's wonderful. I'll need to get someone to solder a connection for me, and I'm thinking about painting it, since it's bare metal. It's got room for something else, and I may put a 3D printed oval with my arms on it. I'm also thinking of a couple larger ones on my speaker cabinets for my guitar rig. I'm at the point ware things like the guitar rig need cabling up. I also need to get some "Dual Lock" Velcro to attach the two new pedals to my triple foot pedal -- it's set up like the pedals a piano has, and I'm adding a couple of things on top.
Two productive days in a row, and I don't think I'll have much difficulty falling asleep in a few.

Date: 2024-10-04 02:12 pm (UTC)Congratulations on the name update progress! It's good to go for the credit agencies explicitly too. Even though the web says "oh they will update automatically", yeah no they don't, not even after 10+ years in one of my friends' case. I just got my "dispute resolution" back from Experian in which it appears they finally updated my personal info, still waiting to hear back from Equifax and TransUnion.
For your convenience:
Experian P.O. Box 4500 Allen, TX 75013
TransUnion Consumer Solutions P.O. Box 2000 Chester, PA 19016
Equifax Information Services LLC P.O. Box 740256 Atlanta, GA 30374-0256

Date: 2024-10-04 03:13 pm (UTC)Thanks. I've got updates for them on my list to do. I'll also need to go through my credit report again, because my dead name is the same as my dad's, and he didn't maintain decent credit -- I'll want to clean that up.
I'm not taking anything for granted, so I've got my mortgage holder, the appraisal district, and my homeowner's insurance on my list (spreadsheets are so useful for list management). And I haven't lost sight that so many of my fellow travelers have been stymied by a non-legal policy change. But I was fortunate to already have a passport in process, and I'll be able to vote in the upcoming election (which is looking to be far more ugly than I thought it would be, thanks to some state and local initiatives that could monkeywrench things to a standstill), and that was a huge concern.
I want this over, and I'm hoping I can manage to push things through so it's done by the time 2025 walks into our lives.
