Fie. Pfeh. And a bit of Puckernuts too
Oct. 14th, 2025 09:37 pmI went in for my infusion today. It's an anti-rejection med and other than at one of the hospitals I can't get it injected in more than a couple of places in this massive city.
My infusion clinic broke up with me today. They can no longer get the med, or they have decided for some reason not to carry it. I've already got a call in to my doctor, and the clinic folks said they were notifying my doctor too, and I got my infusion today, so I have about eight weeks, tops, for this to get resolved and worked out through all the things that are my Medicare Advantage plan. And in the realm of my metaphor above, the folks at the clinic weren't the ones to tell me, someone called me on the phone while I was there. So my infusion clinic broke up with me over the phone. I remember when that was a faux pas, but that was a while ago.
Oh, and to be clear, if I lose this anti-rejection med option, the other option is a twice-daily pill that has to be taken exactly twelve hours apart, and that I had a huge amount of trouble with when I took it before, so that's not a good option. Otherwise I've got around a 49% chance of my third kidney launching itself out of my body, turning feral, and eating everything it encounters until it's big enough to eat the entire local stellar neighborhood. So no big, right? Note that the closest thing when it starts its rampage will be me, so it'll be a test of if my odd healing can survive that.
FWP I know, but still...

Date: 2025-10-19 12:13 am (UTC)At this point I don't even know who to target for harassment -- the clinic is bound by their formulary. I have verified that this isn't a tariff issue, because the med is formulated in Princeton, NJ and manufactured in Puerto Rico -- no matter what Laddie Marmalade thinks, that's not international so no international tariffs matter.
I've got my person at the transplant clinic working on this, and she's gotten back with me, so that's something moving on this.

And you're welcome, that was a thing of the moment; I love that Labelle song, both listening to it and playing it (it was in a Whole Foods Party set list our band's lead singer put together).
