Whew

I fought with hardware and software issues for over 5 months in an attempt to get a Windows NT 4.0 server running on my network.

I managed to cross the final hurdle today, and my new Server, Paddy, is now on line. (The tech savvy out there will catch the bad pun if you think about it.) It is hitting the network and the Internet, and is communicating with workstations and also the Novell server. I've installed Service Pack 6 and updated IE to 5.5 sp2. Next I'll configure volumes and move a bunch of files up to the network for the roommate's browsing needs. From there, I'll need to pull the CD drive and floppy at some point and replace them with drives that work all the time. I also need to install the sound card and patch audio out of it to the other machines.

This is a MAJOR item off my to-do list. It frees me up to work on the Studio box and get both Studio and MIDI patched into the network. And the coolest thing is that all it really took was some donated hardware and a bunch of whipping on the drivers and configuration.
