Well, yesterday the laptop was acting up. It's been doing that for a while, and it's actually still rather new, so I decided to call the State and get their opinion. They told me to contact the manufacturer of Jaws, Freedom Scientific, to see if they could resolve the issue, since it was a jaws issue. This laptop has been giving me headaches since I got it, as it was configured with a lot of useless crap on it, so I've had to do some work to get it running smoothly.

Well, my first call got disconnected, andthe second guy I talked to told me about the repair utility for Jaws, which fixed the problem handily. This opened the door to great amounts of productivity.

I shared out the laptop's hard drive on the network, then copied my entire Trillian, Font, Sound, and Finale directories, along with my astrology programs. I then copied the trillian, horoscope, and winamp executables to the machine. I ran those, then adjusted Jaws to my current preferences, remapped my sounds, Got Prodigal to shoot me a fresh copy of the Symmagic client for LJ, got that installed, put my background on the desktop (it's easier for me to see things on the desktop if I have a slightly textured background) set up the dialups to UTA and my backup dialup in case I gcan't pirate a WIFi feed at school or somewhere else, and doublechecked to make sure everything was working properly. All I have left to do is install Finale 2005 (when someone comes by to tell me which box and CD it is) and to install a virus scanning program on it. (Norton wasn't cutting it.) Also, I'll need to put some kind of spyware on it (The version of Spybot I downloaded from the school is corrupt or something) and the machine will be ready for school. Oh, and I also copied *all* of my MP3's to it. After all, you have to have priorities...

A very productive day. Starting out, I had about two dozen tasks to do on the laptop, and now I'm down to about three. It'll be cool to get those done soon, and then the machine will be ready for school.
