De-crapifying
Jan. 2nd, 2006 11:24 amWell, the decrapification is progressing nicely.
In the last two days, I've gotten the roommate to assist me in eliminating almost all the piles of paper lying about the house. Since I can't see it, I often don't know it's there until I run into it. Several gems were found in all this mess.
The best one is the food guide for produce. The former roommate left it, and it's a very useful book because it has potassium levels in it for all the fruits and vegetables.
We also went through the trailer, and got it reorganized so that there is a lot more room in it now for stuff. She got one of her big tubs into it, so there's more room in the kitchen area to move around. I managed to go through a box and eliminate it. I found a plastic glass full of business cards, and I'll go through them with her as soon as I can to get that cleaned out.
I'm going to go through the closet again and make some more decisions about the things stuffed up there. I'm also going to contact the ex and see if the sleeping bag left with me wants to return to its original owner -- I don't need two sleeping bags. If she doesn't want it, I'm going to sell the silly thing. I have a few mor boxes to move out to the trailer to clear up space in the closets.
The goal is to make my move seventeen months from now a much happier, less overbearing experience. To that end, I've eliminated almost all of the computer parts from my life, and I'll have all that gone before the move. I'm also going through my herbs and similar stuff to find what is still good and what needs to live elsewhere. And the next big project is to get to the storage unit and go through books and software. I know someone who sells books on Amazon, and I'll pass what I don't want to keep to her and split the proceeds.
Almost all the piled up crap is no longer there. I have empty surfaces again. I'm really liking this.
