Saturday's Child
Jul. 24th, 2021 11:52 amI've been going through the wellness plan, and I've been doing the challenges and as much as I can do to try it out with my new schedule and lifestyle issues.
The Challenges are thematic, using the five elements for most of it. Even if someone doesn't follow paths that deal with the elements they provide a useful way to break up aspects of our lives so we spread things around.
The one that gives me trouble is Saturday, "Do something wild and crazy and fun." Uh-oh. I'm blind, with no good mobility resources, I can't get out in the sun without a significant risk of skin cancer, thanks to the anti-rejection meds I'm taking, so daytime things won't happen. My roommate works every Saturday and Sunday, often going out after work for several hours and coming home after midnight. (She's a barfly) So I'm running short on ideas here.
I know I could move it, but this is something that seems to be about changing things up and doing something different, not the same thing every week. And with my roommate in school four days a week and working 5-6 in the evenings, it starts to get a bit difficult to do this one.
However, though the mind is confused the spirit is gung ho to get out and do more things and not get cooped up in the house all the time. Though my life has gotten much better with the kidney, it's been difficult keeping days straight because I'm no longer moored to MWF early morning dialysis visits. So this challenge will help to reconnect me to the days of the week, but I'm still left with what to do about Saturday's challenge. The roughest part of this is that making one little change here or there could open this up in so many ways. Not having to social distance could allow me to invite musicians over for a session. Slight changes in logistics and getting both of us to stop using the game room as a storage room could mean the return of card nights. Having someone interested in hanging around me could resolve a lot of this. (There, I said it, I'm actually giving a few micrograms of thought to not running while screaming away from any potential romantic entanglement) But I have no idea how to make any of these things happen.
Suggestions?
