CMA Question.
May. 11th, 2005 04:51 pmOkay, here's a question to my CMA friends about some recent history.
I noticed that several ofthe societies went away in the interim while I was away from the organization. I'm not surprised that the Meadmakers, Brewers, and Imbibers group went away, as we always had problems doing anything at the event except sharing our recent concoctions. But I noticed several others missing, and the two that really got my attention were the computershamans group and the Drummers and Dancers group.
Though I never madethe Computershamans group, I never missed one of the Drummers and Dancers group meetings, as it was a good place to get into some good, meaty playing.
If I had one complaint about Beltaine, it was thatthe only class going on for drumming was a beginners class. I'm going to do my part at Samhain with at least one class and maybe two, but I'm still wondering, where did that society go? And would there be any obstacles, either political or organizational, in reviving it? That two hour meeting was one ofthe bright spots of the events for me. I might not make the revel fire every night, but be damned sure I'd be at that meeting.
So, if this is a political hot potato or something, let me know, otherwise I'm going to start looking into what it takes to establish a society. I'm going to remain apolitical in the organization, so I want to make sure I'm not treading on tootsies here, but I do really miss that group.
