Just a little update. I've finished most of my classes. I'm pretty sure I have an A in everything I've finished. It 's the ones I have left that are troubling.
Tomorrow I take my final in my Language and Gender class. I was so looking forward to this class -- in fact, I've been looking forward to it for three years. What a dissapointment, and the dissapointment rests solely with the teacher. This is by far the single worst instructor I've ever seen at the university level. In fact,m I rank her with the horrendous Algebra II teacher I had back in high school. This woman has no business standing in front of a class until she gets some serious help in improving her demeanor, class management skills, and either treatment for ADD or a trip to caffiene anonymous, I'm not sure which. She also was the single worst teacher I've had in regards to accomidation for my blindness, and in two specific instances, she absolutely refused to make any accomidation for it, even though the evidence was clear cut that she was being unreasonable. ON her evaluation, for the first time I gave negative responses, and attached a five page addendum for comments.
After that final, which I'm dreading because you never know what she wants to hear on her questions, I have to meet with my accompianist to go over my jury tunes, which I have to sing on Wednesday before I run to Dallas to have a nerve conduction test done.
I'm slowly getting yule presents purchased. Some people I don't know what to buy them, so I'm still looking for the right gift for some people. I have a slightly wider circle of friends to buy for this year, s it's taking a bit more time.

One thing you might want to do as well...
Date: 2005-12-04 06:35 pm (UTC)I have discalcula, which is the math form of dyslexia. I have an actual diagnosis of it and before I knew that the college would make proper accomodations for it, I took a "chemistry for non-majors" class. The teacher was someone a lot like yours sounds like. And she made me come up to the board and do problems in front of everyone, which just screwed me up even more because it triggered performance panic attacks. By the end of it, she was fired from the job, in large part for her refusal to work with me.
The review gets done later but the disabilities people do not usually get to read them. Make sure they know what she did.
I only have one final, this Thursday, in 1302 French. I'm not looking forward to it. I have to do a lot more to research in the other project but it's not a priority this week.
Good luck on the grades.

Date: 2005-12-04 06:43 pm (UTC)I'm goingto send my five page addendum to the department chair, and I'm passing on the chair's contact info to my fellow students in case they have complaints.
she was really terrible. I don't like seeing people lose their jobs, but her teaching ability is really poor and she's doing the university, the department, and the students a gross disservice. She needs to be counseled at the very least, but I don't know if that will do the job.
