I was listening to a classic science fiction novel today, and I found something interesting.

One of the characters, a secondary one, makes a habit of murdering people. She spaced six hundred refugees on a trip from the outer planets to Earth, and the implication is that she does this more than once.

When asked why, it's because she's angry. She's blind -- she can only see in the very low spectrum, so all she sees is heat and radio waves. She says that she resents humanity because of how she has to be dependent on others all the time and how she has to experience everything second hand. So to get even, she takes refugees and then spaces them, thereby inflicting some of the pain she feels on the human race in return.

I can relate.

Note to self:

Cancel the space shuttle mission I had scheduled with Rick.

Okay...

She throws them out of an airlock into the Great Vaccuum Between, my nongeek friend.
