Two things to remember

nyyki1. Reach into your pocket, purse, etc and grab your cell phone. Look at which number button your hand goes to first. Program that button to dial 911. This way if you're ever attacked you'll be able to call 911 quickly and just leave the phone circuit open so the 911 operator can hear what's going on.
2. If you're ever accosted at the ATM, enter your PIN backwards. ATM's are programmed to call the police when this is done. Of course this won't work if your ATM PIN looks the same both directions, so if it does, it's a good idea to change it. The best tactic is to do this, then yell at the machine, saying that it's not accepting your stupid pin, then try it again and enter the pin packwards again, and hopefully by then the cops will be almost there to take your friendly attacker off to a nice room with really small windows and very Bauhaus type furnishings.
