Day 6: Male Rhinorilla, Enraged, Mirror
Jara and Pelador sat beside the window.
"Pelidor said, "You're sure it can't get through the glass?"
Jara nodded, her elven face a mask. "This is an inch thick of glasssteel. We tested how much it could pull and it can't even begin to come through this."
Pelidor said, "How smart is it?"
Jara said, "Watch this and judge for yourself."
The pair looked into the room and Jara pointed at a wall. The wall shimmered, then turned into a mirror.
Pellidor said, "That safe too?"
Jara tried to hide her frustration. Some peoples, especially the above grounders like this half orc, worried too much.
"It's polished adamantine that we purified to a silver shine. If it can break through it it can break through anything."
They heard a snort, and the creature came into view. It's massive grey hide on the body changed to dark fur and massive arms with a round head and blunt nose.
Pelidor smiled. "You really did it, Jara. Score one for the Dark Elves."
The rhinorilla, easily the most fearsom centauroid ever created, looked at the mirrored wall, then snorted. it charged, slamming into the wall. It saw its foe shaken and slammed into it again. Jara touched the crystal that opaqued the wall and said, "See, pretty stupid. But I worked too long on this creation to let it smash itself to death."
Pelidor said, "Can it be trained? It's useless in our struggle if it can't unless you just want chaos."
Jara said, "What's wrong with a little cchaos? But yes, we can train it, just like any dumb animal, though it's better to keep a bit farther away. We'll have an entire force of them by the time we start our first big battle."
In the cage the Rhinorilla got up and shook off the pain. That should be enough to convince them he was just a dumb animal. Now came the hard part -- convincing them he was learning their training. And then they'd make the mistake of letting him out of this cage. That would be their big mistake, one they wouldn't live to regret.
