Finally. I got a chance to hear the descriptive video track for the first Hobbit movie today. I've listened to it twice without this before, and now it really makes sense to me. It's so much easier to follow a movie or film when someone is dedicating 100% of their description to the movie and has done this professionally. And it's nice that movie theatres are finally getting this to work. (Of course they have to -- it's federally mandated) But it's nice to really understand what's going on in a movie.
I'm a huge movie fan, and I went to see them all the time back when I could see. This may give some of that back to me, and I can't express how wonderful it is each time I get something back from back then.
Wow.

That's way cool. I didn't know theatres did that. Do they use some sort of headset to deliver it? And how does that impact your ability to hear the dialogue?

Yes, it's a headset. This one had descriptive in the right ear, soundtrack in the left, but with small enough headphones that the panning of the sounds was still clear. (And I was out in your neck of the woods at The Parks) It's a federally mandated program -- by the end of 2014 descriptive video and closed captioning are mandatory for all tcinema productions and all prime-time shows, broadcast or cable networks included. (And also for net-casting, too)
