CMA Concerns
Feb. 6th, 2002 11:15 amI got my Winter Accord (The "Accordlet") yesterday, and I must say I saw a lot that concerned me.
First off, two of our most experienced reps are no longer reps. Since I was not at the meeting, I don't know the particulars of why they're no longer reps, but it does concern me. One of them I thought was wonderful, while the other one was someone I do not see eye to eye with, but still respect in a way because she is loyal to a fault and someone who will defend what she believes in like a pit bull. Of course, there is one old returning rep who stepped down before, but I do not communicate well with her, and she is the only Dallas rep. Plus, there are no reps from Denton.
I saw a lot of oddness in the Great Works report. It seems that the election for Asst. Director had an unusual result, with a re-vote when there was not a tie. Again, I don't know the specifics. And I noticed a lot of backhanded negative snipes at the former Accord Editor.
And the society reports were no where to be found.
I am developing a mistrust of the current leadership. I don't know if I will re-up my membership. The rewards for me are not there. Beltaine is a constant reminder that I suck at seduction skills, and Samhain is so very political. Besides, I don't feel community there -- the people are so spread out, and there is no sense of common purpose. Besides, why drive 5-6 hours to camp with people you see every week?
We'll see how this goes.

Don't give up on CMA yet.
Date: 2002-02-07 12:03 am (UTC)I watched my mother, the former editor quit at the great works meeting, then i was elected area rep about 30 min later. Trust me it is a good place, just having hard times. Don't give up on it.
And as far as seduction skills, well I have had busy Beltanes, and lonely ones. Again don't give up. Many of us are easier than you think. ;-)
Seriously give it a chance. I only helped to get this shit storm going to help clear the air. It will get better, so stay and see.
