I've been digging into bands I loved back in those halcyon days known as the early eighties, with a focus on ones I haven't heard in a while. This is part of my return to listening music a lot more now that I've got the energy and attention span to listen to music while also writing or checking emails. This is also because the novel I'm letting rest a bit before I dive into proofing it's massive length (no, I'm not going to descend into erotica here, even though that is *such* a trope of that genre) takes place in that timeframe and I name a lot of names in the music industry. So I'm also picking up the occasional CD too.
This is the final track on Quarterflash's self-titled album, "Williams Avenue" and it caught my attention. Yes, this is 1981, though it doesn't sound much like that far back. What it does sound like is a song that I'm having to fight to keep from putting on repeat and listening to it over and over again. And it's also a great Friday song. It's not one that charted, so it might be a bit obscure, but it's got some great horns on it including Rindi Ross on sax (like all their stuff) and a cool guitar solo. (I like that clean compressed tone with a touch of reverb) Enjoy, and feel free to let me know how it hit you. I've got ideas for more of these types of songs, both hits and deep cuts.

The horns are good, but it is definitely a blast from the past. I remember being a kid and hearing rock music for the first time ever. It was We Built This City by Starship. I was instantly in love with it, in that way that only 5-year-olds can love something: completely, unaware of its faults, with abandon.

Some of that list is a bit folk, but not all of it. Your mileage may vary on whether you like any of it.
