The Scream, Silenced
May. 11th, 2005 07:10 pmMost people have seen the classic German Expressionist painting "The Scream". It's the figure of a woman, screaming. The colors are muted, and there isn't a straight line in the painting. The painting not only shows a scream, it shows the deep abiding soul anguish of true suffering. It's a powerful work that often elicits deep feelings in those who see it.
or at least, it did. It was stolen recently, and instead of getting caught with it, the thieves destroyed it. A classic work is now lost to the world. Yeah, we have lots of photographs of it, and probably lots of copies, but it's not the same.
