Okay, I've been trying really really hard to not say anything about this, because it could be perceived as political. But here goes.

Blame is useless. When there is a really bad situation going on, then assigning blame is not going to do one little teensy bit of good in resolving the problem. I tend to prefer to not bother with it, but then again, I'm a perceiving personality tyype, not a judging one. If there is a need to assign blame, why not do it when the entire thing is solved and everyone can look back on the big picture and get a clear idea of what actually happened?

This entire deal with MSY is really starting to annoy me. The levees broke. They were inadiquite. there is enough blam to go around that just about everyone involved can have a piece, so let's just fix the damned things, rebuild them so that they'll withstand something far worse than a category five hurricane, and then move on. When the problem has existed for over forty years, pointing fingers is a bit silly. If you have to blame someone, blame JFK, LBJ, or Nixon, as they're dead and they won't care and they definitely won't clog the airwaves with speeches trying to shift the blame on someone else's shoulders.

And while we're at it, how about all you fundamentalist christian assholes get  your heads out of your butts and look at who is getting hurt by this instead of talking out of your tail ends about how this was a retributive strike from "God" against sinners. If you look at the most affected, the only conclusion using your logic is that "God" hates poor people, as they're the ones who are really sufffering and dying in droves.

It's times like this that make me think that stupidity should be a shooting offense.

Given that Bush repeatedly cut the budget to the division of the Army Corps of Engineers that was responsible for maintaining the levees protecting New Orleans from flooding (his most recent budget cut was in June, and forced them to set aside plans for a study to determine how NO could be protected from a category 5 storm,) then you not only can assign blame, you should.
