I've been on a cleaning kick lately. I'm also getting rid of clutter in my life.

I sold a bunch of old software on eBay yesterday. I mean really old, as in, TRS-80 old. People bought it, too. One less box of clutter in my life. I also dumped some musical gear I wasn't using and got rid of the MIDI controller that isn't going to meet my needs. With the things sold I should be able to pick up a new controller, one far more shiny than the previous one.

I've also been dumping books, cassettes, and records at Half Price. I could probably get more money for them by selling them on eBay, but that involves a lot more effort, and I'm not willing to invest it in my life.

I just purchased a bulk tape eraser, and when it arrives I'm going to zap all the video tapes and audio cassettes that I no longer need in my life and sell them off on dfw.forsale or Craig's list for about a quarter each. More clutter gone. All of my cassettes are recorded into the computer now, at least, the ones I can't get on CD, and I have one more 8-track to repair and record so that I can get rid of the ones I don't have to keep and get rid of the 8-track player as well.

I also cleaned up some of the clutter on my friends list. If I deleted you, either your journal is static and has nothing going on or it's not something that enriches my mornings. (I read in the morning) It's nothing personal, just more uncluttering of my life.

The next big project will be to go through the boxes of paperwork and get them sorted into piles of things printed and things handwritten. From there I can scan and OCR the printed stuff and get someone to read the handwritten stuff to me as I type it in.

Cleaning these things feels good. It helps me distill down to what I need in my life instead of the vast amounts of things I just "might" need.

You're still on my reading list, though this was not a friends locked post -- I generally don't make them, as anything I post to the net usually is not anything I want protected, and besides, friends lock isn't nearly as secure as people think it is.

However, you're one of the people I enjoy reading, so I doubt you'll get deleted any time soon. Your messages about your life with the kids and all help me to remember that though my life is pretty different from most people there are still people out there who are living a fairly normal life in comparison, and that they can still maintain some originality, passion, and connection with things greater than themselves even though they're living what some people would consider a "normal" life.

Besides, anyone who can respect a decent vocabulary is worth reading.
